Devotion of the Day!
“You Don’t Have To Respond”
Sometimes no response is the best response. When someone attacks you verbally, sometimes it’s wise to remain silent. Sometimes you can explain with a soft answer and hope it turns away the person’s wrath. But sometimes no response is the best response.
Don’t meditate on the negativity. Turn to Father and pray for the person attacking you. It could be that he will return to you with an apology. Or it could be that he’ll attack you more because he doesn’t think the first attack got your attention. Either way, you’ve moved in the opposite spirit, and Father is pleased. Don’t respond to the attack unless I give you the words to say. In the meantime stay prayerful!
***PRAYER***
Set a guard over my mouth. Keep watch over the doors of my lips. Do not let my heart fret because it leads only to evil. Help me to resist the temptation to repay evil with evil or railing for railing or insult for insult. Help me not to respond.
